It is the mission of the Lakes Area Charter School to provide quality education for the youth of the community for the purpose of accomplishing personal growth and academic excellence. The three components of the curriculum include: state mandated academics, individualized instruction, and technology with emphasis on individual student needs.

The Lakes Area Charter School program was designed to meet the needs of students who are not successful in the traditional setting. While in high school and during the transition from high school to post secondary or the worlds of work, the academic needs of students are considered high priority in implementing this curriculum.

With consultation from our sponsor, which is Alexandria Technical College, our program is designed to include:

  1. Customized Education: Lakes Area Charter School will offer an education to fit each student's learning style and needs.
  2. Life Experiences: Personal growth is provided through cultural awareness activities, community involvement, while introducing students to experience a variety of educational opportunities.
  3. Advanced Placement and Technology: Lakes Area Charter School Students have access to our sponsors' educational program: Technology, library, and Post Secondary Enrollment Options. The evolving technical support at Lakes Area Charter School is immediate and available to all students.
  4. Degree Program: Lakes Area Charter School follows all required Minnesota Academic Standards, which entitles students to receive a Minnesota High School Diploma.
